Four Top-25 teams fall on opening night of tournament

After last night, only 32 teams remain in the NCAA Div. III women’s basketball tournament. While Ohio Northern won their first-round matchup against Lakeland (Wis.) by 32, there were also three other 30+ point blowouts on the tournament’s opening night, including two on Northern’s side of the bracket. Conversely, nine games were also decided by less than five points.

#5 ONU vs. Lakeland: Five things to know

The Northern women’s basketball team will face Lakeland (Wis.) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at King Horn Sports Center. The Polar Bears (27-0) will be making their fourth national tournament appearance in five years, while the Muskies (20-7) will be making their first appearance since 2010.

Before you come to King Horn on Friday night, we want you prepared; here are five things to know about Northern’s first-round matchup.


McIntosh Dining Hall to receive extensive renovations

Sodexo dining services at Ohio Northern University have confirmed that the McIntosh Dining Hall will be given a large scale renovation during the summer of 2017.

The current dining hall’s layout and design will be overhauled for both aesthetic and utility. Before making the official proposal for the renovations, students were asked what ideas may or may not work best for ONU’s student community.

This weekend, King Horn will play host to four teams in the first round of the NCAA Division III women’s basketball tournament. Ohio Northern, ranked fifth nationally, earned the right to host by winning the OAC regular season and tournament titles, as they enter March with an undefeated record of 27-0. While you may know about the hosting Polar Bears, the other three teams playing on Friday night -- Lakeland (who will face ONU), Illinois Wesleyan and Trine -- might seem a bit unfamiliar.
