Notes from media day: ONU picked third, fourth

CANTON- As each coach talked at the podium about their team during OAC Media Day on Thursday, Dean Paul listened.

He scribbled down notes on his welcome packet, detailing personnel changes and tidbits that he thought could be beneficial to remember.

And a lot has changed this season in the OAC -- there are three new head coaches, several new rules, and Mount Union isn’t the defending champ for the first time in a quarter century.

Floridian, Georgian ONU football players compete in midst of Southern hurricanes

While the Northern football team has dealt with struggles on the field this season -- the Polar Bears are 4-4 and rebuilding after losing multiple key seniors from last year’s team -- some players have dealt with distractions at home due to hurricanes that have swept through the South.

There are 23 players on the team’s roster from Florida and four from Georgia, according to head coach Dean Paul.

Price headed to Tennessee for mini-camp

Late Saturday night, Ohio Northern’s Devon Price accepted a deal with the Tennessee Titans that will allow him to participate in their mini-camp in two weeks. According to his agent, Bardia Ghahremani, Price is considered a ‘free agent,’ although he could potentially sign with the Titans while at mini-camp.

There once was a man named Don Batchelor, who stood at a recorded 6’3, 225 pounds in 1923. He was a professional football player for the NFL’s Toledo Maroons, playing tackle, and was the first pro player to come out of Ohio Northern University.
