Swasti Bhattacharyya presents lecture on ancient Indian stories, contemporary bioethics

Religious scholar Swasti Bhattacharyya of Buena Vista University led a discussion of how ancient Indian stories relate to contemporary bioethics on Friday, April 8. In her presentation, “Mothers and Mantras,” Bhattacharyya explained how birth narratives found in sacred Hindu texts address ethical issues facing the modern medical community. The presentation, hosted by Ohio Northern University’s Department of Religion and Philosophy, attracted a large crowd of both students and faculty.

Sigma Pi returns to ONU

March 18 marks the return of the Zeta chapter of the Sigma Pi fraternity at Ohio Northern University.  Their recolonization ceremony was held at The Inn where forty-three ONU men became re-founding fathers within the historical fraternity.  With the proactive cooperation from various ONU organizations, such as student involvement and the Greek life, Sigma Pi is able and ready to continue their quest for excellence. 

Kosovo ambassador works for advancement of women

Consul General Teuta Sahatqija from Kosovo spoke to a full audience of students and faculty in the Moot Courtroom about the importance of women in transitional states.

Kosovo is a relatively young country, having been officially separated from Serbia in 2008. The latest population figures for Kosovo are just under two million people. Over 140 countries recognize Kosovo as a sovereign state except Serbia, making Kosovo a disputed territory.  

Law lecture challenges contemporary views of law education

Professor Stephen B. Presser gave a lecture to a crowd of law students in the Moot Courtroom titled with the question, “Do Law Professors Understand American Law?” on Tuesday February 16th.

Presser’s credentials include undergraduate and law degrees from Harvard University and his academic research has made him an expert of constitutional law. His lecture is part of a “book tour” for his recently published book “Law Professors: Three Centuries of Shaping American Law."
