Twenty-nine minutes away from the campus of Ohio Northern, tucked back in the corner of Lakewood and Glenwood Avenue in Lima, Ohio is a Temple—a place of worship for the area’s limited Jewish population. The Temple Beth Israel-Shaare Zedek is the only Jewish synagogue in northwestern Ohio aside from the Congregation B’nai Israel, an hour and a half away, just outside of Toledo. Its congregation is small, and most of its attendees are aging, many in their sixties and above.

Four years ago, no one wanted Omega Hollies to be a teacher. The recent Grand Valley State graduate ran around from small job to even smaller job. She filled orders at a local yarn shop one day and nannied a couple young children the next. In the time she had to herself, Hollies checked the web. She hoped every day there would be more than four positions open teaching high school sociology.

A high school never popped up on her server, but Ohio Northern University did.

Ohio Northern University's Office of Multicultural Development hosted its January Cultural Conversation Hour on Jan. 24. Students and faculty members discussed the growing issue surrounding social equality.

Ohio Northern University students, faculty and staff united in discussion on the continuing debate on San Francisco 49er backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick's rebellion against the National Anthem.
