From changing lives to being changed: Kristen Bissett tells of her Dominican Republic experience

The city of San Juan de la Maguana is not a tourist area. In fact, it is one of the oldest cities in the Dominican Republic and continues to be economically dependent on the agriculture cultivated by the inhabitants of both local “barrios” (Spanish word for “neighborhood”) and surrounding mountains. A visit to the city requires a three and a half hour car ride from the closest airport in Santo Domingo. If you would like to know how difficult the trip is, however, just ask Kristen Bisset.

She has made it twice.

Colleges Against Cancer asks students to leave the "razor" out of its fundraiser

Ohio Northern students have thrown their Barbasol cream to the back of their cabinets and abandoned their razors for cancer. ONU’s Colleges Against Cancer (CAC) chapter is hosting a “No-Shave November” competition in which representatives of other campus organizations attempt to grow or shop for the best looking beard in 30 days.

ONU women's cross country team to race in regional meet on Saturday

Seven Ohio Northern women’s cross country runners will race at the Great Lakes regional meet Saturday at noon in Powell, Ohio. This group includes senior Emily Richards, juniors Ashlie Baumann, Colleen Grainger, Avery Ewing, and Kristina Myers, sophomore Zoe Schilling and freshman Megan Wright. Freshman Chyanne Retcher will also travel as an alternate.

Head coach Jason Maus looks forward to this Saturday’s race and what these athletes will accomplish.

​Taran Beasley failed to make the cut of the audition for her first musical almost a decade ago, but now she’s one of the Ohio Northern Department of Theatre Arts’ fastest rising stars. The sophomore holds the leading role in the theatre’s upcoming fall production of "Carrie: The Musical," a feat no other underclassman has accomplished in recent years.
