ONU Wind and Symphony Orchestras Combined Winter Concert

The ONU Wind and Symphony Orchestras present a “Gaudete” concert on Saturday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Freed Center. The orchestra will perform pieces inspired by religion, including music by Jesse Ayers, Jennifer Higdon, and Arvo Pärt. Other pieces include Higdon’s “Blue Cathedral,” Pärt’s “Silouan’s Song,” and Franz Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 96 (The Miracle). Tickets are $5 for ONU students and can be purchased at the Freed Center’s box office.

ONU Jazz Band Winter Concert

The ONU Jazz Band will present its holiday concert, titled “Basie and Beyond,” on Thursday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. As you might expect, the event will feature Count Basie classics being showcased by several student soloists, the ONU Jazz Combo, and a guest trumpet soloist, David Sycks, a band director at nearby Bluffton High School. Tickets are $5 for all students and can be purchased at the Freed Center’s box office.

Small Ensembles Winter Concert

The Small Ensembles will present a “Something for Everyone” concert on Wednesday, December 10, at 8 p.m. in Snyder Recital Hall. The free show will feature ONU seniors Elizabeth Druesedow, a music performance major; Brandon Guillen, a mathematical statistics major; and Nicole Well, a music performance major. The students will perform their favorite pieces in a chamber music setting.
