Banned books find life in annual literary forum

Ohio Northern University's Sigma Tau Delta's "Banned Books Reading & Discussion" allows students, faculty, and the rest of the campus community a chance to celebrate literature in the library.

ONU's Red Cross blood drives are making a difference

On Wed., Sept. 21, ONU's Red Cross blood drive collected 47 units of blood—enough to help 141 people. This is just one of the many successful drives Ohio Northern has held in the past nine years that they've been partnered with the Red Cross. Over that time span, donors have given over 6,700 units of blood, saving up to 20,109 lives. That’s about 2,235 lives a year—equivalent to 60 percent of ONU’s student body.

Is the ONU Wi-Fi really that bad? If you’re me or think like me, the answer is no.

When I was first looking into Ohio Northern as a prospective student, I heard war stories about the Wi-Fi. Everyone told me to factor the Wi-Fi into my decision because isn’t efficient if I’m trying to submit an assignment online and the Wi-Fi is down. Websites such as Niche and Cappex rate universities and have many ONU student reviews and complaints about the Wi-Fi.

Ohio Northern University's English Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta, hosts its annual Banned Books Reading and Discussion session on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Heterick Memorial Library. The session is open to all ONU students, and the general public.

The Ohio Northern football team fell to Baldwin Wallace by a score of 28-27 on Saturday, in their annual night game at Dial-Roberson Stadium. The Polar Bears missed three field goals and two extra points, while also committing costly red-zone turnovers in the loss. ONU fell to 1-1 with the loss, while BW improved to 1-1.

Ohio Northern University's Marching Band plans to present a special concert celebrating its 125th birthday on Sept. 26 at 4:30 p.m. inside the King Horn Fieldhouse.

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents its fall student production, Edges, on Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. Additional performances are Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., and Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for ONU students. 

Suicide: a topic worth discussing

As part of suicide awareness, Phi Mu Delta and the Counseling Center teamed up to hold a presentation tilted "Be ready, Be there" on Sept. 10. They addressed such topics as the warning signs behind suicide, and how to talk with people who are having problems with suicide.
