The Ohio Northern football team defeated Muskingum 42-7 on Saturday. Sophomore quarterback Ricardo Johnson went 14-17 for 116 yards and two touchdowns in his first start.

"She deserved it."

As I was sitting in class Friday morning, that was the last thing I expected to hear come out of a classmate's mouth. She and her friend had been discussing the South Carolina incident, where a black female had been forcefully removed from a classroom.

I was in shock.

Surprise, confusion and humor filled the ONU tundra on Friday Oct. 16, when Phi Mu Delta (PMD) held their Mudder Bingo event.  Whether it was a live cow on the tundra, or the significant amount of prize money offered, students were happy to participate in the event, knowing they were having fun while helping the Ada community at the same time.

Ohio Northern University's English Department hosted its annual Scary Rapid Fire Reading on Oct. 28. Students arrived in costumes for an evening of spooky readings. 

NCAA proposes 10 new potential regulations

This year, the NCAA is proposing 10 new policies and regulations for Division III athletic programs. Three of these proposals are government-sponsored while the other seven are ideas brought forth to be discussed and voted on.

Taryn Stromback is Ohio Northern’s SAAC representative for the Ohio Athletic Conference and represents ONU in the National DIII SAAC. The SAAC is the Student Athletic Advisory Council and Taryn will be discussing all 10 proposals at the next National DIII SAAC meeting.

1977 art alumnus Laura Barnhardt-Corle combines art and nature in "Watercolors; A Grass Roots Project." This art exhibit in the Stambaugh Studio Theatre Gallery features Barnhardt-Corle's MFA thesis project from Bowling Green State University. 

Band-O-Rama

Ohio Northern University's Marching Band, “Star of Northwest Ohio,” presents the annual "Band-O-Rama" on Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. inside the Biggs Theatre of the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. The band is celebrating its 125th anniversary during the concert, with a show entitled "Down Home," featuring the very best of the blues.

All-Ohio Choral Day & Crossroads Concert

The fourth annual All-Ohio Choral Day Concert on Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Biggs Theatre of the Freed Center for the Performing Arts will be the culmination of a full day of music making by visiting high school vocalists from Ohio schools, under the direction of music professor, Ben Ayling, and guest conductor, Jim Henry.

Polaris Scary Rapid Fire Reading

Ohio Northern University's English Department presents its annual Polaris Scary Rapid Fire Reading on Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Elzay Gallery of Art. A reading list is posted in the English Department's office, and there is a costume contest. The event is free and open to the public. Members of Polaris, ONU's literary journal, invite the campus community to enjoy scary readings right before Halloween.

ONU Wind Orchestra - "Setting the Standard"

Ohio Northern University's Wind Orchestra presents its fall concert, "Setting the Standard," on Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Biggs Theatre of the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. The concert will feature music by Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Percy Grainger, Gordon Jacob, and Philip Sparke. Tickets are $5 for ONU students and can be purchased at the Freed Center's box office, or here

Pharmacy Career Fair Preview

Polar Careers will be hosting it's 2015 Pharmacy Career Fair on Friday, October 30, 2015. The event, open to pharmacy and pharmaceutical business majors, will take place in the King Horn Field House. Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. for P6 students, with an open fair for P2-P5 and pharmaceutical business students starting at 10 a.m. Professional dress is a requirement.

The Ohio Northern football team beat Capital 52-31 on Saturday, October 17 at Dial-Roberson Stadium. The Polar Bears recorded 529 yards of total offense in the victory, as they improved to 4-2 overall, 3-2 in the OAC.
