"Bram Stoker's Dracula" brings spooky Halloween chill to Freed Center

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present "Bram Stoker's Dracula" on Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. The play is being performed by the Los Angeles Theatre Works and is adapted by Charles Morey. See the Los Angeles Theatre Works as the group performs a dark and compelling play that makes viewers question what they know about science and religion. 

Mapping Katrina

Ohio Northern University's Department of Art & Design presents a visual documentation of New Orleans before, during and after Hurricane Katrina. The exhibit features many maps created and utilized during and after Hurricane Katrina. This exhibit was curated by Jimmy Wilson, ONU Professor of Management & Geography in the Dicke College of Business Administration. The exhibit is on display in the Elzay Gallery of Art, and the gallery is open daily to the public from 1-4:30 p.m.

SPC's Paint Fest sparks creativity

From painting mugs and drink coasters to tie-dying, students were given the opportunity to express themselves at SPC’s Paint Fest on Sept. 29.  The event was held within the McIntosh activities room and was overwhelmingly successful in the number of participants.  The event was open to all students of ONU, where any student could do a variety of activities. However, the event itself was greatly influenced by social media and everyone’s favorite app, Pinterest.  Besides making crafts, Paint Fest was also a great way for students to relax and take a break from academics.

English Reading Series celebrates Jennifer Moore's book release

Ohio Northern University's English Department held its second event in the annual Reading Series on Oct. 7. This event honored the book release of professor Jennifer Moore's poetry collection, "The Veronica Maneuver."

For the seniors on this year’s Ohio Northern football team, this was it. It was their last shot at beating John Carroll, a feat that ONU had not accomplished since 2011. And to compound this, the Blue Streaks were ranked 11th in the country, and the Polar Bears would be playing at JCU on their Homecoming Weekend. Let’s just say that the Bears weren’t favored.

Alpha Phi Omega's presence at Ohio Northern has seen a huge image change. Recruitment has been no problem for APO as their numbers won't stop rising, gaining around 20 members every semester for the past couple years.

As one of the fastest growing Greek Life chapters at Ohio Northern University, Alpha Phi Omega is the single most represented intercollegiate service organization in the nation. It was founded based off of the principles taught by the Boy Scouts of America and follows three cardinal principles: Leadership, Friendship, and Service.

As part of the campus’ preparation for Halloween, Ohio Northern University will be hosting their annual Res Life Trick-or-Treat featuring its Haunted Halls on Tuesday, Oct. 20, starting at 5 p.m.

Res Life organizes its annual Trick-or-Treat so that the children of Ada, Lima, and other surrounding communities can come together and learn about ONU’s Res Life and its halls. It also allows the kids to have an extra chance to interact with Ohio Northern and have a good time doing so.

Ohio Northern University's English Department presents its next event in the 2015-16 Reading Series on Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Elzay Gallery of Art. Jennifer Moore, assistant professor of English, will host a release party for her newly published book of poetry, The Veronica Maneuver. Moore will conduct a reading and discussion. A reception begins at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Second City brings Homecoming hilarity

The historic improv group, The Second City, visited Ohio Northern University's campus as part of Homecoming weekend. During the performance, ONU's improv group, Fearless Shenanigans, joined the professionals in a hilarious conclusion.

Freed Center for the Performing Arts welcomes Taylor 2, a professional dance company, on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. The ONU Dance Company will join the group in the concert. Tickets are $5 for ONU students and can be purchased at the Freed Center's box office.
