We’ve reached that time of year. It is finals week. Finals week is a jam-packed week of exams, projects, papers and more. For all college students, it is a week fueled by coffee and sleep deprivation. We have all been there, and it can be so bad for everyone’s mental and physical health. Everyone expects finals week to be a stressed filled panicked week where no one sleeps. It has become a campus culture to freak out and makes it known that you are freaking out. I’m here to tell you there is a different way that will result in more sleep and less money spent at the library coffee shop.

Millennials are moving back home and staying there longer. Relying on parents is more practical for today’s young adults because we stay in school longer and don’t have dependents of our own yet. Millennials make less and have different goals. This lifestyle is the result of the millennial goal of self-fulfillment.

Rather than prioritizing stability or starting a family, millennials first desire to establish careers that make them happy. That’s not to say that millennials aren’t making money or starting families, we’re just doing it later than previous generations.

For the love of philanthropy

Philanthropy events are abundant on college campuses. Every month is packed with money-raising events for any cause imaginable. Greek life on Ohio Northern’s campus heavily focuses on holding these philanthropic events. ONU’s Greek community prides themselves on having multiple chapters representing many different causes throughout the university. The list is long. Some chapters only represent one cause while others can represent upwards of five or six.

Fourth annual social media workshop

Ohio Northern Universities PRSSA put on its fourth annual social media workshop this March. The event involves different public relations professionals speaking about growth in the field. 97 people attended this years workshop making it one of the largest turnout to date.

Students enjoy the ability to learn from professionals in fields they want to work in. Each year the workshop has a variety of professionals for this reason. ONU PRSSA hopes to continue the growth and development of the workshop to make it bigger in the coming years.
