Presidential Candidate Pete Buttigieg Debates with Passion

South Bend Mayor and Presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg took the debate stage Nov. 15 with passion and fire. Buttigieg has been cited a winner of the CNN and the New York Times sponsored debate, in Westerville, Ohio. 

According to Nate Silver for FiveThirtyEight, Buttigieg was polling at 5.1% prior to taking the stage at Otterbein University, putting him in fourth place out of the twelve candidates. After Tuesday’s performance, Buttigieg is ranked third in Iowa behind Biden and Warren, an important state in determining the democratic nominee.

Fall Paintings at SPC Paint and Sip

As a part of their monthly events, SPC decided to host a paint and sip for fall. While paint and sips are often a drinking affair, the only requirements are a group of painters, an idea, tons of paint, and a teacher. So SPC has found a way to open them up for the general student body: having a student lead the event.

Otterbein University held the Democratic Presidential Debate on October 15, 2019. 12 candidates crowded the stage for the Democratic Presidential nomination. Cory Booker, Senator and former Mayor declared his candidacy on February 1, 2019. 

Loving Where We Live

Res Life hosted Love Where You Live Day on September 29 for students to come together and work on bettering the campus and building making a stronger community around themselves. Students went across campus mulching trees, pulling weeds, painting stairs, and working on the Res Life homecoming banner throughout the two-hour time period.

Open Doors fights stigma through celebration on National Coming Out Day

Often times, coming out of the closet can take a lot of courage. To celebrate the challenges and courage of coming out, National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is held annually  Oct. 11.

Founded in 1988, NCOD empowers those who identify as a member of the LGBT+ community to speak up and confront homophobia.

Part of facing homophobia here at Ohio Northern is Open Doors, an organization founded in the mid-1990s that has provided a safe place and has given a voice to the LGBT+ community at ONU. 

White Coat Ceremony 2019

Ohio Northern University’s third-year pharmacy students received their white coats Sept. 28 at the annual White Coat Ceremony,an event where pharmacy majors “recommit themselves to their profession” according to third-year pharmacy student Carmen Bowers. 


Pharmacy students have a mentor, who is a graduated pharmacist, to watch over them throughout their time in school. The mentors present their mentees with the coat and then the students recite an oath of professional commitment to pharmacy. 

Netflix's 'Unbelievable' will leave you shocked and empowered

Netflix’s recently released limited series “Unbelievable” is a powerful and eye-opening docudrama based on the true story of one of law enforcement’s biggest mistakes. The story begins when Marie Adler (played by Kaitlyn Denver), an 18-year-old former foster child in transitional housing, reports being raped by a masked intruder.
