ONU indoor track and field preview

After a cold and extended winter break, the men’s and women’s track teams are coming back for another season.

For the men’s team, the influx of more underclassmen will be a vital attribute for the coming season, as the ambitions of gaining greater success in the conference that are passed down from the upperclassmen and the coaching staff.  The new additions to the men’s team’s roster will become a highly valuable attribute in gaining ground in the conference.

For the women’s team, a large core of the team from last season remain for this season, allowing the team to be sufficiently filled with able and talented members, which the coaching staff will make much more well-rounded. With the infusion of freshmen, the women’s team is shaping up to perform better this season. “I really think the women’s team is better than we were a year ago.” That was what Head Coach Jason Maus stated when explaining how the women’s team was starting out in better shape than they were last season, thanks to the number of veteran athletes returning to the roster as well as the freshmen joining the team.

With this new season comes a new list of athletes who have a chance to stand out and achieve greater success in the field or on the track. From the men’s team, Jonathan Roseler, Christian Rupe, James Rader, Jojuan Fisher and Robby Brinkman are a few of the athletes that are going to be the athletes to pay attention to in the upcoming season to perform exceptionally. On the women’s team, the athletes to be on the watch for some of the best performances on the team this season are Catie Huber, Kristine Wagner, Sarah Ballmer, and Julie Amos.

With the team’s next meet on the 24th of January, the coaching staff and the athletes are hard at work preparing themselves for a very competitive season and to gain a greater chance at the conference crown.
