In honor of Halloween, ONU’s English Department presented Polaris’ annual Scary Rapid Fire Reading on Tuesday night in the Elzay Gallery of Art. This reading allows students and staff alike to present poetry and short stories that are of a spooky or more formidable nature. In addition to many original works, famous poems by Emily Dickinson, Lord Byron, and Sylvia Plath were also recited for the event. Those who read include Caroline Page, Dr. Jennifer Moore, Cole Hughes, Alex Hartsel, Dr. Lisa Robeson, Ivy Keller, Jim Scofield, Rachel Cruea, Jiro Kondo, Rachel Bulko, and Jacob Wood.

Polaris readings give students the opportunity to share with others the original works that they have written. The next Polaris reading will be held in February in honor of Valentine’s Day, and is open to all who may be interested.
