Student Senate candidates face off

For the 2011 Student Senate president and vice presidential race, running mates Eric Ambos and Katie Hozan are competing against candidate pair LeAnn Clark and Leslie Smith. The following is a summary of the teams' campaigns:

Ambos and Hozan

Presidential candidate Eric Ambos is a junior business man­agement major, and vice presidential candidate Katie Hozan is a junior communication arts major.

The pair's goals are as follows:

-Serve as the voice between the students and administration

-Have Senate members attend other campus organiza­tions' meetings to ask how they can better serve them - Increase campus unity and involvement

-Create the Student Organization of the Month award

-Start a comprehensive student organizations' list of meeting times and special events

- Increase community service events within Student Senate

-Begin a campus-wide food drive/jar wars to benefit Hardin County

- Promote a more environmentally-friendly campus

-Obtain more recycling bins for students' rooms and academic buildings

- Increase Student Senate awareness through co-sponsored events

Clark and Smith

Presidential candidate LeAnn Clark is a junior crimi­nal justice and psychology major, and vice presidential candidate Leslie Smith is a junior French and interna­tional business and economics major.

The pair's goals are as follows:

-Increase Student Senate members' involvement

-Make senators participate in campus organiza­tions related to their positions

- Co-sponsor events with other organizations

- Provide a comprehensive list of organizations

-Place on the Senate Web site with contact information

- Implement a Senator/Organization of the Month award

-Utilize to empower senators and student orga­nization to go above and beyond in positions

- Utilize an anonymous questions/concerns, com­ments box

-Place anonymous box on Senate Web site for efficient access
