The Polar Bear football squad had a handful of players do big things this past Saturday, but junior receiver/kick returner Devon Price had a standout game to earn this week’s Northern Review Athlete of the Week.

Price came into Saturday’s contest coming off of a hot season from the 2013 campaign. Being a first team all-OAC kick returner and a second team all-OAC wide receiver, he has been a main ingredient of the Polar Bear offense and is a go-to weapon for Coach Dean Paul.

Last fall, the men’s cross country team finished second to Mount Union in the OAC meet for the second year in a row. They key word here is ‘second.’

“We don’t mention that in here,” head coach Jason Maus said, sitting calmly behind his desk as practice neared last Wednesday afternoon.

Here at ONU, athletics are held very dearly among all who tread the grounds of this fine institution. The students, faculty and alumni view the Polar Bears as one of the most talented and most intimidating teams in the NCAA, and two teams that are laying their hearts on the field are the ONU men’s soccer team and the ONU women’s soccer team. With the widespread phenomenon which was the 2014 FIFA World Cup behind us, it’s time we took a look at two teams who may not be as renowned, but are no less talented and committed to the sport they love.
