Accusations, beatings, even death threats—that is the life for some Muslims in America. This affirmation of “the land of the free” doesn’t seem so free when you look at the torment and affliction Muslims go through in this country. The reports of threats and attacks are on the rise in schools across the United States; kids are being harassed because of what they believe in. And don’t say to yourself some variation of “well yeah, but that could never happen here” because it can.

Ohio Northern University's chapter of the Society for Collegiate Journalists attended the annual Biennium in Atlanta, Georgia. Students discussed various issues and concerns in journalism and college media.

As of December 2 – the day of the San Bernardino massacre – there have been 334 days in the year to date and 353 public gun attacks. Yes, you are reading that correctly. The number of mass shootings in the U.S. is more than just sickening; it is humiliating.

No matter your stance on gun control, if you think this is an issue that doesn’t need to be addressed, think again. Between 1998 and 2013 more than 150,000 Americans have been killed in gun homicides – almost three Vietnams –, and we have done… nothing.

2015 marks the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Ohio Northern University Professor of Management & Geography, Jimmy Wilson, curated a stunning visual display of topographical, statistical, and geographical information and maps.
