#5 ONU vs. Lakeland: Five things to know

The Northern women’s basketball team will face Lakeland (Wis.) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at King Horn Sports Center. The Polar Bears (27-0) will be making their fourth national tournament appearance in five years, while the Muskies (20-7) will be making their first appearance since 2010.

The Ohio Northern women’s basketball team will be dancing for their fourth time in five years, as the NCAA announced this afternoon that they will face Lakeland (Wis.) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night.

There’s something different about this dance, though; for the first time in program history, the fifth-ranked Polar Bears will play host for the opening weekend.

The Ohio Northern women’s basketball team will begin their 2016-17 season on Tuesday night, when they travel to Case Western Reserve. It will be the start of a long journey for the Polar Bears, as they seek their sixth straight season with 20 or more wins. They will look to win their third consecutive OAC regular season title, and will try to qualify for the NCAA tournament for the fourth time in five years.
