Broadway performer Ben Vereen gave a show at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday Jan. 28, dancing and singing through pieces from his various performances and others that were close to him while he speaking on the importance of equality and the arts.

From operas, special performances and world premiere musicals, Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts kicks off its Spring 2017 dramatic arts schedule with a variety of performances. While continuing the tradition of a spring musical and a play for the semester, the Freed Center also brings new performers and special guests, as well as concerts by ensembles, and a variety of musical works alike.

Ohio Northern University's Freed Center for the Performing Arts has many helping hands working behind-the-scenes for each theatrical show. As costume shop manager and resident designer, Ameera Ansari is right in the middle of the production.

Ohio Northern University’s Department of Music presents a holiday concert each year, but it is always advertised as the “it’s not quite Christmas yet” celebration. “Gaudete: The It’s Not Quite Christmas Yet” will prepare the ONU and Ada communities for the approaching holiday season with festive musical numbers presented by the ONU Wind and Symphony orchestras in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 10.
